Nothing like the 80's

For our end of the semeseter social our ward goes up to our bishop's cabin for the weekend, on Friday night we have a fireside where each FHE group shows their video that they prepared throughout the semester! Well for ours we decided to do an 80's work out video in honor of the infamous Richard Simmons Sweating to the oldies, however it is safe to say that it is no where near the quality of his videos but hey it was to make! In preparation we scrounged up all the clothes we could find that had anything to do with the 80's and primped ourselves to look like authentic 80's kids. I think it was a success! Have no fear it is just in editing stage but will soon be available for purchase, also my aerobic instructor skills are at high demand so if you want a personal training session you will need to book it fast! Video coming soon...but for now enjoy these....

How the West Won

June 26, 2010. The date that the epic water fight went down in Porter Park. East(red) side of campus vs. West(blue) side of campus. It was huge. Both sides met on their prospective sides of the park where we grouped and readied ourself for the water balloon battle. We waited and after the "Kings" gave the signal for battle we were off. We met in the middle blue and red in one large and in charge water fight. It was fabulous, water was everywhere and it was nearly impossible to know what was happening, water balloons were flying through the air, noodle swords were slaying opponents and people were running around completely drenched. The initial battle lasted about 30 minutes, we regrouped and some of the people went for round 2, but in the end it was West side, which might I add was my side, that was victorious!! It was a great way to escape the heat, and unite the school, well kind of!

I Have an Obsession

Harry Potter is my all time favorite, book and movie, like its rather ridiculous how much I love it, but I can't help it. I'm addicted. So when I saw that the world premiere of the 7th movie trailer was premiering on Monday Night I was ecstatic. I waited and waited and finally I witnessed one of the most epic things of my entire existance. It was amazing, and I am so pumped for the movie that comes out November 19, 2010. I am so excited I already purchased my ticket and I am set to attend the midnight premiere. For those that have not yet had the joyous opportunity to see this trailer here it is...

A Rivalry

Celtics Vs. Lakers - Game 7 - Bring It On

The Lone Lakers Fan

Let's Go Celtics.

Its a Relay Rally

It's spirit week here on campus, which means there have been activities all week long. This story starts on Tuesday. It was the 50 lap Relay Rally. I know I know. 50 laps is a lot. But have no fear I only had to run 1 -400 meter lap. It was a ward event in which about 30 of us from the 87th ward particpated and made up one of many teams that competed. The race is self explanatory, 50 laps around the track, the only rules were that it went boy girl boy girl, everyother lap. I figured hey I ran the 400 in high school. I can do this. It is one lap, and I have this in the bag. It was my turn to run (number 11), I grabbed the baton and started running just like my coach taught me in high school. Anyone who has run the 400 meter sprint knows that it, in not so many words, SUCKS, its a full out sprint for about 60 seconds. It BURNS. About three-fourths into the lap all I could think about was finishing, I am SOOOO out of shape, its rather ridiculous. I passed off the baton and went to get the lactic acid burning out of my booty and stretch my legs. I was done. Once I got my breath back I was free to cheer for the rest of my ward. And on the 5oth lap I ran with my team across the finish line. It was a great feeling. Such a great experience. We stayed after taking pictures, laughing, talking and dancing to the music. I can honestly say that all in all, the day was a success.

Like I said. It Burns.

Caves of Ice

This little trip that we took a couple of weeks ago was so much fun. We got some glow sticks and headed out to the Ice Caves. After driving through miles of mud puddles and baja-ing across rough and wet terrain and one bag of licorice later we made it to the caves. We cracked our glow sticks and made our way down into the dark cold abyss. It was so cool, there were ice slides, we walked on ice most of the way, somtimes we crawled through ice tunnels and seeing how ice is slickery we slid and stumbled a lot of the way too. We made it to the back of the caves, stopped for a few minutes, and headed back again, the whole way singing songs, both from the hymn book and childrens song book. It was rather spectacular. When we got back to the surface we were cold and wet, but it was totally worth it.

Blast From the Past

This week my sister is visiting from Ohio so on Tuesday I left Rexburg and drove to Idaho Falls to go to the Tautphaus Park Zoo with my sisters, sister in-law, two nieces and my nephew. It was like I was in Fifth grade again, going to the zoo for our end of the year field-trip. Not much has changed, after going to places like the National Zoo in DC, and the Cincinatti Zoo, there really isn't that much to see. They still have the petting zoo where you can feed the goats yourself, and my personal favorite the lion shaped drinking fountain. We had a little picnic and just lounged in the sunshine, soaking up all the warmth we could. It was nice to hang out with my family for a while and just put school, and midterms behind me. I think I will make it a goal to get out of "the bubble" more often. That's all for now.

I remember it being a little bit bigger.

Baseball Games and Brides Guides

One of my neighbors plays on our ward's baseball team. So last night at 9:15 we drove up to the upper playing fields, found our place in the stands, and watched the 40 minute game. Our team won. A ward of champions. Well I have never been a real baseball fan, I went to them in highschool because I thought the boys on the team were cute, but I figure I should be supportive of those in my Ward. My roommate must have the same idea because, I looked over and she had three bride guide magazines, What the? I found this particularly peculiar, due to the fact that none of us even have any potentials at the time. Maybe she just wants to get a head start. We passed them around the circle of friends and oohed and awed over what dresses we wanted, certain colors, and of course what rings we wanted. What has this college done to me? I don't even want to get married, I mean I am only 19, yet there I was dreaming up my perfect wedding. Woe is me, I need an Intervention. The game was pretty fun, being with friends is just a great time, laughing, talking, cheering, taking pictures, and don't forget wedding planning, thats just how we do it in here. Welcome to BYU-I
